The differences between 尤其 and 特别

The adverb 尤其 indicates a further degree. 我们之前还学过“特别”，Both of them can indicate a very salient aspect in the whole or in comparison with others. They are usually used in the latter part of a sentence. For example:

我非常喜欢画画儿，尤其/特别是中国画。

表示这个意思时，“尤其”can be followed by “是”，“是” can also be omitted; but “特别”is usually followed by“是”。For example:

When 特别 is used as an adverb, it may also mean “especially” or “very”，“尤其” cannot. For example:

特别 can be used as an adjective，indicating “different from the rest” or “not common”，while 尤其 cannot. For example:
