So here we have an outline problem for a large multinational corporation. And this is very much about business to employee, the business to employ model. GSK are a large international pharmaceutical company operating in more than 150 companies. Their global operations, with production and research facilities, are based across 87 countries. Again, the geography there creates inherent problems. And they maintain a broad range of on-premise and line of business services. As a company, they sought to standardize and simplify their user experience. So we’re talking about a large number of line of business applications that often stand in isolation. For each of these applications, we have a different username, a different password. This creates problems for people.

We also, with the 87 countries, need to make sure that we are complying with the very broad range of legal requirements about how we are handling personally identifiable information. So just storing everything in the cloud may not be an option here. With valuable intellectual property to protect, they also wanted to improve security levels. So we wanted simplified log on, but also better security.

In this video, you will be introduced to the last case study, which is on the B2E model, web services, and SSO.

Once you have watched the video, recap the basic outline of the case study here:

  • this case study is on GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), an internal pharmaceutical company that operates in more than 150 countries
  • GSK maintains a broad range of on-premises and line-of-business services
  • their goal was to standardize and simplify user experience, as well as implement a simplified login process with increased levels of security
