What should you read?

Watch Nuria, a learner of English, speak to Gad Lim and Sharon Ashton about the types of text that appear in IELTS Academic Reading.
So can you tell me what kind of text will I need to read in the IELTS test? There are all kinds of texts in the text. We have lots of different topics, as well, there might be topics, texts on science or the arts or sports or famous people. It varies, all kinds of things. But the texts themselves are taken from magazines and newspapers, from books, from the internet. So there’s a wide variety, really, but they’re not specialist texts. You don’t need to know a lot about the subject. They’re written for a general audience, so you don’t need to know anything about the topic. OK.
And I would just say that to prepare well, it’s just really to read as much as you can, because the more you read the more you get used to it. And you also are slowly picking up little words that maybe you can use in the writing later on, as well. Yes, true. OK, so I will keep practising then. Yes. OK.
