Introduction to support strategies and adjustments

Watch three mature students from the LLC’s BA SEND programme talk about their practice, covering support in an education setting and at home.

In this video, a group of current students on the BA Learning and Teaching with SEND programme discuss ways in which they support individuals with SEND needs in educational settings and at home.

They discuss the following questions:

  • Focusing on a particular area of SEND, could you briefly explain the key areas of need of an individual you work with/have worked with?
  • How have you met these needs in a learning setting? At home?
  • Are there any particular adaptations or support strategies you have used?

The ‘See also’ section below contains an extended discussion between these students about their work in supporting individuals with SEND.

The discussion includes the following:

  • Introduction from Anita (00:05),
  • Medical and social models of disability (00:56),
  • Reasonable adjustments (16:13).
