This course was created by Dr. Anthony Daniels: an acclaimed cultural critic, essayist, and journalist. As an author and teacher, he writes and lectures under the nom de plume, “Theodore Dalrymple,” giving us books such as Zanzibar to Timbuktu and Our Culture: What’s Left Of It, in addition to hundreds of incisive articles and essays.

Dalrymple is also a physician and psychiatrist, and has lived and worked all over the world. As a doctor and a writer, he has offered healing and clarity to patients and readers alike. His course on Johnson’s Rasselas will showcase his talents as a teacher and his gifts as a humane interpreter, one who is no less sensitive to the plight of the human condition than Johnson himself.
