Introduction: teaching Creative Writing in different contexts

So in Week 1 you heard from some colleagues who teach here at Manchester Met; we’ve hopefully established that Creative Writing is something that can be taught., and we’ve explored some basic techniques and ideas of how this might be done.

This week, we’re going to be looking at teaching Creative Writing beyond the university, who this benefits and the impacts it might have on participants. We have a strong research culture here at Manchester Met, and you’re going to hear from colleagues whose research has benefitted from the discipline of Creative Writing, in order to get an overview of some of the ways in which it can be used as a tool for investigation and expression. Each of the researchers you will hear from will talk about their research and how Creative Writing features in their projects. They will also share resources and tips that will feed into Week 3 of our course, on how to teach Creative Writing.
