That’s it for Week 2 – you should now be able to meet the Learning Outcomes for Week 2, which were:

  • Explain the role of judges (“the Judiciary”) in the UK, and how they are separate from the government and associated agencies (“the Executive”) and Parliament (who make the laws of the UK – (“the Legislature”)
  • Understand how the Judiciary uphold the Rule of Law in the UK
  • Identify potential breaches of the Rule of Law by examining some real life examples, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Judiciary in taking appropriate action in response

Next we will be moving on to look at how judges in the UK uphold the Rule of Law in a criminal law and human rights context.
