Our Common Future (Brundtland Report)

Definition of sustainable development and introduction of the three pillars: ecological, social, and economic.
Our Common Future (Brundtland Report)

In 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development published Our Common Future  , known as the Brundtland Report  . It introduced the concept of sustainable development—meeting present needs without harming future generations.

The report linked global environmental problems to poverty in the South and unsustainable consumption in the North, calling for integrated solutions. It later led to the 1992 Earth Summit.

We highly recommend exploring the Brundtland Report  to understand the origins of sustainable development.
