Exercises for Week 4

  1. Practice playing the waltz vamps till ready discussed in several keys

  2. Play “Sometime My Prince Will Come” in root position
    (i) first colla voce
    (ii) then in time and soling on it with different endings

  3. Play and improvise on “All Blues” in root position

  4. Play and improvise on “Sometime My Prince Will Come” and “All Blues”
    (i) with a playalong
    (ii) consider playing the tunes at different speeds with a playalong

  5. Play and improvise on “It’s A Raggy Waltz” in root position in time

  6. Play and improvise on “Everybody’s Song But My Own” in root position first playing the tune colla voce and then in time
