Warm-Up Activity: Connecting Back to Week 2

Reflecting on Your Learning So Far

In Week 2, you explored data classification, sources, and decision-making. You also reflected on how organisations collect, store, and use data.

Reflection Questions from Week 2

What data does your organisation collect and why?
Is it outside the scope of the four primary drivers highlighted in the course?
How many different ways can you classify datasets in your organisation?
How does your organisation make decisions?
– Does it rely on intuition, gut feelings, experience, data, research reports, or a mix of these?

Keep these questions in mind as you move forward—you may still refine your understanding as you engage with new concepts!

Starter Activity: Thinking About Data in the Digital World

Instructions:

Take a few minutes to reflect on the role of data in the digital world and how it influences your organisation and daily interactions. Consider the following questions:

How does your organisation use data in both offline and online environments?
What kinds of digital interactions rely on data?
How does data shape personalised experiences (e.g., recommendations, targeted marketing)?
Where is digital data stored and processed?
What challenges exist in handling digital data securely and ethically?
What measures are in place to ensure data accuracy and reliability?

This activity is designed to broaden your understanding of how data fuels digital interactions and to encourage reflection on data-driven processes in your organisation and beyond.

Linking Back to Week 2

If needed, refer back to the concepts from Week 2, including any self-study activities you completed. This will help reinforce your learning and set you up for deeper insights in this week’s module.

Takeaway:
By recognising how data drives the digital world, you’ll gain a stronger appreciation of its impact on businesses, technology, and decision-making.
