Conclusions
This week, we have considered how media can help to facilitate communication within communities – through a discussion of community and participatory media.
We learned about some of the ways in which media can be used to serve a community – but also some of the challenges faced by such community media. We also learnt about some of the values and ideas underpinning a participatory approach to using media for development.
We hope these examples and ideas have encouraged you to think more broadly about how media can be used for development – beyond media representations – and appreciate how important inclusive communication can be in promoting positive social change.
