Introducing the Public Media Alliance
The Public Media Alliance or PMA is the largest  global association of public broadcasters.  Our remit is to support an advocate for the role  and importance of public media in democratic   societies. We’re a not-for-profit in fact our work  our core work is funded by our members more than a   hundred different public broadcasters such as the  BBC, PBS in America, ABC australia, CBC Radio Canada,   RNZ in New Zealand the Ghanaian Broadcasting  Corporation and many many others worldwide. We   support and work with all these organizations  to help improve standards, train journalists and   fight their corner if they face undue pressure  from governments, funding issues or sadly even   attacks on their journalists.
Our diverse work  also includes facilitating knowledge we run   travel exchanges for media workers contribute  to academic research and run workshops worldwide.   But PMA’s most important role is advocacy we  support and promote the values of public media   the same values as good journalism and the need  for press freedom as challenges like media capture,   political interference and  disinformation grow day on day worldwide.   We’ll talk about all of these in the week ahead  and explore why access to trusted public media   matters for a healthy and functioning democracy.
