On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the incidence and causes of mental health conditions in Australia.
  • Describe the appropriate response strategies recommended as a first responder when managing a person in crisis.
  • Explain methods of managing the person once a crisis has de-escalated.
  • Discuss why professional help is recommended and list referral pathways in Australia.

How you will be assessed

To complete the course and receive your certificate you need to complete the course material (videos, readings and activities), marking 90% of steps complete, and achieve a required grade on the final assessment at the end of the course.

The final assessment is a 10 questions Multiple Choice Test which you must receive a score of 70% or above to pass. If you complete the course material and take notes you will be well prepared for the assessment.
