Welcome

Welcome
Welcome to our One-sided Communication course! If this is your first online course with FutureLearn, we have prepared some tips on our learning platform and offer some important information on the hardware and software you will need.

Some FutureLearn course basics

The course material we provide is only one part of the learning process. The other is the community of your fellow students. You will learn a lot by contributing to the discussions! As instructors, we will also participate in the discussions from time to time. We encourage you to share your thoughts, ask questions if something is not clear for you or if you want to discuss new topics and, of course, answer questions posed by your fellow studens – even if you are not sure that your answer is correct.

Hardware and Software

For the exercises a conventional laptop is sufficient. You will need a C or Fortran programming environment and an MPI library. You can install the MPI library via the OpenMPI site or via the MPICH site.

For users of screen readers, the text of the course contains all necessary information, and images are additional illustrations. Unfortunately the quizzes in this course cannot be made screen-reader accessible, however learners can achieve all learning outcomes and understand all the content without completing these.
