Introduction to Providing Nutritional Advice to Your Clients

Welcome Video

Here’s Sonya, the friendly face of our course! Letting us know that this week we will cover the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify when the provision of nutritional advice is beyond the scope of practice of a personal trainer.

It requires the ability to recognise the dangers of providing nutrition advice in a fitness setting and when a client requires referral to an Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Accredited Sports Dietitian or General Practitioner.

The course covers recognition of appropriate information sources to apply to the provision of food advice, and when the provision of such advice is unethical and beyond the scope of practice.

By the end of this course you’ll be able to:

  • Explain your scope of practice in providing nutritional advice to clients.
  • Identify referral pathways to accredited professionals for nutritional advice for clients.
  • Identify appropriate sources for nutritional advice to provide to clients.
