Welcome to the course!

Hello, hi there! We are from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya, and welcome to the course ‘Pediatric Health Essentials: Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses’.

You may know that pharmacists are responsible for dispensing medications and managing patients’ pharmaceutical care needs. In this course, we are going to equip you with some of the basic knowledge from the perspective of pharmacy in identifying symptoms and managing some of the common pediatric illnesses.

This 2-week course is created and delivered by our pharmacy experts from the Department of Pharmaceutical Life Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya. Our team of experts are:

Course Experts

Dr Kayatri Govindaraju

Dr. Kayatri is a registered pharmacist with over nine years of experience in community pharmacy and has been actively teaching pharmacy and pharmacology modules to pharmacy students.

Dr Wan Safwani Wan Kamarul Zaman

Dr. Wan Safwani is a registered pharmacist with experience in community pharmacy settings. She also has over 10 years of experience in teaching life sciences-related courses and supervised over 10 postgraduate students in their research. Her research interest is in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering.

Dr Yow Hui Yin

Dr. Hui Yin is a registered pharmacist with experience in hospital and community pharmacy settings. She has been actively teaching pharmacy-related courses for over eight years and has supervised the research work of over five postgraduate students.

Dr Nur Akmarina Mohd Said

Dr Akmarina is a registered pharmacist and has been a pharmacy lecturer for more than 10 years, specializing in teaching pharmacology-related modules.

Dr Phan Chia Wei

Dr. Phan, a trained microbiologist, specializes in microbiology and immunology. He has been actively teaching BPharm courses in the pharmacology of infectious diseases, particularly viral and fungal infections, and actively teaches Pharmaceutical Microbiology related courses.
