Wellbeing support

Hear lead educator Emily talk to her colleague Tom from the Support and Wellbeing service about wellbeing support at the University of Nottingham.

This audio is taken from a podcast recording made by the Faculty of Science Student Experience team at the University of Nottingham.

You will hear lead educator Emily talk with her colleague Tom from the Support and Wellbeing service at Nottingham about the support available to new students to help with the transition to university life. Also on the podcast were second year students Fin (Chemistry) and Cottie (Natural Sciences). You will hear their tips and advice for settling in to university.

More information about the services mentioned in the podcast:

The Support and Wellbeing service work alongside other support services at the university and a student’s personal tutor. They encourage a healthy approach to your studies and provide practical advice, help and support on a wide range of issues. They can also help you find the right support service if you are unsure where to go. You can book an appointment with a Support and Wellbeing Officer online or in-person through an online platform.

Student Academic Skills is one branch of the Libraries Learning Development Team. You will learn more about the support they offer in the ‘Academic support’ step.

Clubs and Societies: The Students’ Union (SU) has a variety of student-run clubs and societies which any student can choose to join. These are for students with a shared interest – whether that is an activity, sport, faith or hobby – to meet each other and take part in their interest together. There is a society for almost everything, from those that love tea (KettleSoc, mentioned in the podcast) to K-Pop (also mentioned in the podcast). You will have learned more about the SU and the support they offer in the ‘Opportunities at university’ activity.
