Does your child have the skills to thrive in the future of work?

This Activity is a reflective exercise designed for helping develop understand and talk about critical skills for the future.

Step One

Take your child through the 10 competencies listed by The World Economic Forum in the previous steps flip book. Make sure they understand each of the competencies and why they are important for future career success.

Step Two

Complete the first worksheet where your child will need to give a clear example in why/how they possess this skill and how they have developed it. You will also ask your child to rank their strength in this skill from 0-10 (10 being extremely competent and 0 being not at all). If your child doesn’t feel they can prove they possess this skill then move onto the third step.

Step Three

The third worksheet will help you and your child make a plan on how they can develop the skills they feel less confident in or can’t highlight an example of when they have used this competency.

Think of ideas where they can improve this competency, this be through school, digital courses or maybe in some way through an interest or hobby they have. Be creative in thinking about how this skill can be obtained or improved (all 10 can be developed outside of traditional education).

Make sure to identify who can help your child develop this and also set timeframes and dates on when this project will be completed to keep you and your child accountable for continual development for the skills for future success.
