In this video, Sonya defines what a skill is; the difference between masculine and feminine skills, traditional and non-traditional skills; the skills you get at school and the skills you learn as an adult in the world of work. She asks you to consider your own skills as your strengths and to reflect and then define a clear list of your top five.

Once you have them, you can ask yourself:

  • Are these skills currently being activated in your role at work?
  • Are they aligned to your current career path?
  • Are the skills being utilised to create the future life and career you want?
  • Do those close to you, friends and family, champion and celebrate these skills with you?
  • Do you value these skills and strengths?
  • Are you harnessing them by taking courses or having a mentor in these areas?
  • Are you proud of these skills? Do you tell people about them?
