Welcome to week 3

In week 3, the various options for data collection will be outlined and discussed.
This week’s lesson will involve learning about different qualitative research methods to explore your research topic and answer your research questions. You will explore qualitative data collection methods including observations, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions. We will use videos to showcase these methods in practice and you will be invited to reflect on the strengths and limitations of each approach.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to craft your own distinct set of research tools. We will teach you how to conduct observations, create an interview guide, conduct semi-structured interviews and facilitate focus group discussions. You can share your observation notes and first drafts of interview guides with your peers to receive peer feedback and suggestions for improvement.

We hope you enjoy customising your research toolset.
