The article We explored the potential of primary health care in achieving the health-related sustainable development goals (SDGs) and identified key limitations. The 2018 Declaration of Astana emphasized the need for service provision, multisectoral actions, and citizen empowerment to accomplish the SDGs. However, inadequate government spending on health, workforce shortages, and health illiteracy pose significant challenges. To overcome these obstacles, we recommend increasing investment in primary health care, implementing measures to retain rural health workers, and enhancing training to promote multisectoral collaboration and community engagement. These actions are crucial for advancing towards the SDGs and improving overall health outcomes.
