Public Diplomacy

Public Diplomacy
I briefly mentioned the term pulic diplomacy. For those who are not familiar with it, let me explain a bit here.

After this talk, if you’re interested, I was very much interested when I first learned about public diplomacy. I thought this is cool and this is for sure the way to go. This should be a main arena for all of us can be representatives of our coutries. You don’t need to Jame Bond or Jason Bourne to solve an international relation problem. I am kidding.

To help you get the sense quickly, let me give you an example.

Bill gates, Elon Musk, BTS…do you see? Okay you got it. But I want you to have a little bit of Jargon today so stay tuned! Here’s essence of of public diplomacy.

The Genesis and the Evolution

The story begins in the aftermath of World War II, a period when the world was deeply divided. Nations were not only looking to rebuild but also to secure their place on the global stage. Enter public diplomacy, a strategy pioneered by the United States and the Soviet Union, who used cultural exchanges, broadcasts, and exhibitions to win hearts and minds across the globe. But as we move through the decades, with the advent of the internet and social media, our story evolves. Public diplomacy now operates on a digital stage, where tweets can be just as powerful as traditional broadcasts.
