Hi, I’m Dr Sorin Adam Matei. >> And I’m Jessica Welch. I’m a Professor of Communication Technology at Brian Lamb School of Communications. I’m also the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University. Purdue is one of the leaders in technology and STEM education. One of our most famous alumni is Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon. I’m a PhD candidate here at Purdue and I helped Dr. Matei develop this course. My area of expertise is online interaction, social media learning, and analytics. We hope you’ve enjoyed the little taste of social media analysis we’ve covered so far. And we also hope you are ready to get way more in-depth.

Welcome to this course!

This week we will look at how to design and develop social media research plans.

Dr. Sorin Adam Matei and Jessica Welch won’t be able to join the discussions or respond to every individual’s comments, but you should get lots of support from your fellow learners. Learning in this course is focused around discussion — sharing your own perspective, supporting other learners, and listening to and learning from new perspectives and experiences. We encourage you to help each other and discuss your ideas throughout the course.

Students who upgrade and complete the first 6 courses in the program will be eligible to take the final assessment course. Upon completion of the assessment course, students that apply and are admitted to Purdue’s online Master of Science in Communication program can submit to have their completed FutureLearn program count as 3 credits towards the degree.
