Closer look at the fragmented supply chains in construction

Construction processes are fragmented in various manners thus leading to various entities: construction process phases, parties and projects.

Construction is a magnificent profession. Certain buildings feed the imagination, like the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing.
But not everything is all right in the construction process. The major cause can be summarized with the word “fragmentation”. The construction industry is strongly divided up in at least three ways:
  • different processes
  • different parties
  • different projects
The major challenges are lowering failure costs, increasing productivity and enhancing innovative capacity.
