Hello and welcome to the course. One of the greatest challenges facing educators is managing diversity in the classroom.
My name is Chris. I am a lecturer and learning advisor at a university in Australia. I also have two children with dyslexia.
This course has been developed out of research conducted at our university on supporting students with dyslexia (Maurer-Smolder et al., 2021).
In it, you will learn about the characteristics and possible causes of dyslexia, barriers often faced by students with dyslexia, strategies for supporting these students and ways to make the curriculum more accessible to students with dyslexia and other students.
I hope that you enjoy the course and that it helps you to make your students more confident learners.
