COURSE SUMMARY

This course examines the characteristics and potential causes of dyslexia and ways to support students with dyslexia in the classroom.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Outline the reading process and identify specific difficulties associated with dyslexia and the neurological nature of their origins.
  2. Describe other characteristics associated with dyslexia in adults and potential impacts of dyslexia on learning and well-being.
  3. Identify strategies for supporting adult students with dyslexia.
  4. Describe the concepts of Universal Design in Learning (UDL) (CAST, 2018) Identify strategies for making curriculum more accessible to students with dyslexia.
