Powerful emotions

Discussing the powerful emotions that children and young people with mental ill health experience

In this course, we will talk about supporting children and young people with anxiety, low mood and depression as well as about children and young people who hear voices, those who have self-harming behaviours, those with disordered eating, and those who misuse substances.

We have chosen these topics as non-mental health practitioners have told us that these are the areas they would most like support with. But there are many more behaviours and mental health conditions that children and young people can experience, and whilst we can’t address all, we hope that this course will provide you with a greater knowledge and understanding of mental health experiences in children and young people, and the tools to develop your confidence in supporting children and young people to get the help and support they need.

Please share any thoughts about the topics we’ll cover with your fellow learners in the Comments.
