Lack of access to clean water can lead to waterborne diseases, economic hardship, and other negative impacts on communities and individuals.

Worldwide refers to the global scope of the issue of access to clean water. Although many countries have made progress in providing access to clean water, there are still significant challenges to achieving universal access, particularly in low-income countries and in areas affected by conflict or environmental challenges. The WHO and other organizations work to address these challenges on a global scale.
