The Future of Fashion Course Introduction

In this video Lisa Mann, Director of Postgraduate, Professional & Online Learning at the Condé Nast College introduces The Future of Fashion Course.
Hello, welcome to the Fashion Futures course. My name is Lisa Mann. I’m the director of postgraduate professional and online programmes here at Condé Nast College. I’ve designed the structure of all our FutureLearn courses and worked with some amazing academic and industry experts to develop unique learning content. Whether this is your first course or you studied with us before, thank you for making us part of your education journey. This course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn more about the future of the fashion industry and its response to key global trends.
Providing you with a unique blend of academic and industry expertise, this is an introductory course suited to anyone with an interest in fashion forecasting and trend analysis related to consumer behaviour. So whether you’re a student, an entrepreneur or someone who aspires to work in the fashion industry, this course will help to expand your knowledge and provide you with insights into the latest industry developments. To give you a better understanding of what you’ll learn throughout the duration of this course, I wanted to highlight some of the key points that we will focus on.
You’ll learn about the evolution of the fashion industry and its response to global trends, along with an overview of the fashion system, including key trends such as drop culture see now by now and direct to consumer models. Your focus on the impact of technology on the future of fashion, touching on digital fashion shows, fashion forecasting and prediction insights. You’ll study the future of fashion with content and insights from industry experts such as Ruth Marshall Johnson, a trend specialist and futures consultant, and Geraldine Wharry, futurist, trend forecaster and designer. Will take time to explore how the industry is responding to global trends, how the fashion system operates and might develop in the future.
We’ll also cover how you can develop your own ideas and produce creative pieces of work in response to the course content, putting into practise everything you’ve learnt. Finally, you’ll learn to visualise your ideas of how fashion might look in 2025. We aim to explore how the fashion industry works, how the fashion system operates and how it might develop in the future. And finally, to examine short and long term forecasting and practice applying insights to industry problems. The Condé Nast College has unrivalled access to the best and brightest minds in the industry, including the teams at Vogue, Glamour, GQ and a host of other Condé Nast titles. Good luck with your studies.
We look forward to hearing about your course experience and hopefully welcoming you again soon.

In this video Lisa Mann provide you with an overview of what to expect from this 3 week course.

To get the most out of this course, we strongly recommend engaging, as much as you feel comfortable doing so, in the discussion forums and making full use of the comment sections found attached to each step.

The more you refer to your own experiences and interests, and the more you use the forums and comments to inspire and encourage your fellow learners, the more you will gain from the course.
