About the Keynote Speaker

Before we get started, we would like to introduce you to the keynote speakers of this course.

Welcome to this course!

This course will explore the intersection of semiconductors and geopolitics, with a particular focus on Taiwan’s semiconductor industry. We will examine the historical development of this industry, its global impact, and the geopolitical challenges it faces.

Hosted by Professors from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), this course invites Colley Hwang(黃欽勇) and Eric Huang(黃逸平) from DIGITIMES, both seasoned industry analysts, to lead a discussion on their book co-published with NYCU.

Based on the book “The Silicon Island-A Blessing in Disguise? A Place where Semiconductors and Geopolitics meet”. Through interviews, this course will provide insights into the semiconductor supply chain, explore the development and transformation of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry. And delve into the geopolitical challenges faced by the Taiwanese semiconductor industry in the global landscape.

Before we get started,

We would like to take the time to introduce you to the keynote speakers of this course, Colley Hwang and Eric Huang.

Colley Hwang

As founder of DIGITIMES, Colley Hwang is an ICT industry analyst as well as a seasoned cross-sector innovator and industry expert with 37 years of experience under his belt. Having witnessed over the significant changes of the ICT world – from the PC era to the age of mobile communication and IoT, Hwang has been invited to deliver lectures for Taiwan’s prestigious universities and assume a keynote speaker in major global events. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association of Taiwan and China Aviation Development Foundation.

Eric Huang

•Ph.D candidate, Department of International Business, National Taiwan University

Currently as Vice President to Business Development Center of DIGITIMES, leading an analysts team on Asian supply chain and operating DIGITIMES English website “DIGITIMES Asia”, Eric Huang worked for a leading foundry as an engineer and spearheaded a myriad of projects for the public sector and well-known enterprises.
