So, this is part two of module one, Meeting Global Challenges. We’ve talked about some soft skills, we’ve talked about some technology trends and global trends for us to pay attention to. And now we’re going to talk about the SDGs that we feel are most related to meeting global challenges. And the first one we’re going to start with is SDG 13 around Climate Action. Climate change is a serious and growing threat for many populations across the world. The recent IPCC report, which we have a link to in the additional materials section of this section.

We encourage you to go back to that link and read that report, has some rather dire warnings about what we could experience if climate change continues to occur on the pace in which it is occurring. So this bank of videos is about the science behind climate change, about how scientists go about evaluating climate change, and a few interesting examples from different areas in the world about impacts that are happening today. We don’t want you to be discouraged by this information, but we do want you to be aware that climate change is real, that is happening, that there’s a global scientific consensus about the causes of climate change and the fact that we need to actively engage in solving it.

The first SDG we start with is the biggie, SDG 13 Climate Action.

Climate change is becoming more serious by the day.

We have placed a link to the most recent report from the International Panel on Climate Change (the IPCC) below and we encourage you to read the entire report. The implications of doing nothing are dire.

The object of the assignment exercise is for you to reflect upon this knowledge, as well as your personal experiences and feelings concerning climate change and its impact on the world.
