Managing your SDG projects with RADAR

Are you feeling full of enthusiasm to take action to support your chosen Sustainable Development Goal? It is very easy to be carried along with enthusiasm and forget to work on your ideas and projects in a planned way. At EFQM we use a tool called RADAR to make sure that projects have the best chance of success. Let’s have a look at what the letters of RADAR represent.

R is for RESULTS. The first part of RADAR reminds us to to start out with the end in mind. In other words, start by defining the RESULTS (or outcome) that you want to achieve. What difference do you hope to make by working towards your chosen Goal?

A is APPROACH. Plan and develop processes or activities that will help you to achieve your desired outcome. What, specifically, do you plan to do?

D is for DEPLOYMENT. Deploy, or implement, your chosen approaches throughout the organisation. How will you implement your chosen action?

A is for ASSESSMENT. Stop and check that your chosen approaches are working in the way you expected. Have they been fully implemented? Are they giving you the right results?

R is for REFINEMENT. Take a step back and reflect on what you have learned from feedback or good practices in other organisations. What improvements could, or should, be made to the way you are doing things?

By now, you may have noticed that RADAR is based on a cycle of continuous improvement. We will go into more depth with RADAR over the coming steps of the course.
