Congratulations, you have now completed the course! I hope that you have found this introduction to interaction design to be helpful and informative. While I have tried to provide you with an overview of the main components of the design process, we have just scratched the surface of this rich field. I encourage you to use this course as a starting point for a deep exploration of interaction design: read, analyze existing systems, note down what works well and what’s bugging you about the technologies you use in your daily life, collect examples of effective and compelling designs, and, most of all, continue to design yourself. As any other design discipline, interaction design is first and foremost a craft: you get better only through practice—by continuing to design various kinds of systems, and doing so regularly. It is through this practice that theoretical knowledge become truly yours, that you learn what aspects of this knowledge is helpful and which aspects you can discard, and how to apply it efficiently to make progress on your design projects. Most importantly, as you build up your base of design experiences, you will learn to recognize patterns—both in user needs and in how they can be effectively addressed through design solutions—that will begin to move you toward mastery. Enjoy this exciting journey! There is much to learn. I wish you all the best as you continue with your design education.
