What happens to my data when I complete a FutureLearn survey?
The majority of our surveys are delivered using TypeForm or SurveyMonkey. SurveyMonkey initially stores data in the US. Typeform use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to store data, so data is initially stored in the US and backed up in Germany. Both SurveyMonkey and Amazon have signed up to the Safe Harbor Framework, which means that your information is protected to the standard of UK and EU data protection law.
Survey response data are typically correlated with your FutureLearn account using a reference, and held confidentially and securely by FutureLearn in line with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. The reference we use to correlate your survey responses to your FutureLearn account cannot be used by anyone outside of FutureLearn to identify you. For each course, we may share anonymised pre- and post-course survey data with the organisation running that course.
We aggregate the survey data we collect on you and other learners and produce reports containing summary statistics and summaries of free-text comments. Information that we publish in this way will be entirely anonymous.
