Genealogy Exclusive Offer Competition | Terms & Conditions
1. Organiser. FutureLearn Ltd is the organiser of the ‘Genealogy Exclusive Offer Competition’ (the “Prize Competition”) with its address at: 96 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DB.
2. Bound by terms and conditions. By not opting-out of this Prize Competition, the entrant acknowledges that he/she has read and understood these Terms and Conditions and agrees to be bound by them.
3. Eligibility. The Prize Competition is a free draw where an entrant is not required to pay to enter the Prize Competition. The Prize Competition is a random draw open to anyone who:
a) Has enroled on the ‘Genealogy: Researching Your Family Tree’ course from The University of Strathclyde on FutureLearn between 14 March 2016 and 24 April 2016.
b) Has fully participated and purchased a Statement of Participation on the ‘Genealogy: Researching Your Family Tree’ course from The University of Strathclyde on FutureLearn (start date: 14 March 2016) where the payment for the Statement of Participation is not a payment for the prize draw;
c) Is 13 years old or older and has obtained consent from their parent to enter into this Prize Competition if a minor (under 18 years old).
4. How to enter. To enter the Prize Competition the entrant must have purchased a Statement of Participation on the above mentioned course:
a) between 14 March 2016 and 15 May 2016 with their FutureLearn account (valid email address)
Entrants who have enroled on the course but haven’t purchased a Statement of Participation will not be considered valid.
5. When to enter. This Prize Competition is valid from 14 March 2016 and closes at 23:59 GMT on 15 May 2016 (the “Closing Date”). Any fully participating learners on the course who purchase a Statement of Participation after the closing date will not be considered.
6. Data processing, etc.
a) The entrant consents to FutureLearn Ltd collecting, storing, and processing any personal data contained in his/her entry into the Prize Competition. The entrant agrees to the processing of such data for any purpose connected with the Prize Competition and for any other legitimate purpose.
7. Exclusions.
a) FutureLearn Ltd employees, partners, suppliers and their families are not allowed to enter the ‘FutureLearn Student Competition’ Prize Competition.
8. Delayed or incomplete entries. FutureLearn Ltd rejects any liability for any delayed entries; and FutureLearn Ltd reserves the right to disregard any such entries.
9. Process after the closing date.
a) After the closing date there will be a period of up to 8 weeks for FutureLearn Ltd to randomly select the winner.
b) A random selection tool will be used to select the winner from all valid entries.
c) The winner will be contacted via email.
d) The winner will be announced on or before 10 July 2016 via an email to all eligible entrants.
10. Contacting the winner. The winner should receive their prize within 10-12 weeks of providing the required information as per clause 11)
a) In the event that the winning entrant cannot be contacted within 14 working days of an email notification (day the email was sent) from FutureLearn Ltd, the prize will be attributed to another randomly selected entrant.
11. Prize. The prize is non-refundable, non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and not redeemable for other prize(s).
a) The winner will receive a framed family tree chart based on information the winner himself/herself will provide to FutureLearn. Such information must be provided to FutureLearn by the winner within a maximum of 6 months from the date on which the winner is notified of their having won the competition. FutureLearn will apply reasonable endeavours to encourage the winner to provide the required information, however, if the winner fails to provide the information within the time frame provided, the winner will forfeit the prize.
b) FutureLearn Ltd will post this to a delivery address provided by the winner.
c) FutureLearn Ltd accepts no liability for any issues arising after the prize has been sent to the winner.
12. Liability. FutureLearn Ltd shall not be liable, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or in any other way, for any loss or damage (howsoever arising) suffered by any entrant resulting directly or indirectly from entry to this Prize Competition. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall, however, exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction: These Terms and Conditions, and the Prize Competition, are governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
