Terms and Conditions

1. These Terms

1.1 These are the terms and conditions that govern your payment in instalments for the purchase of your microcredential. These terms must be read together with the Learner Terms and Conditions and our Terms of Business.

1.2 Please read these terms carefully before you purchase the microcredential and enrol onto this microcredential.

These terms tell you who we are, the process for payment in instalments, what to do if there is a problem, and other important information.

2. Information about us and how to contact us

2.1 We are FutureLearn, a company registered and established in England and Wales.

2.3 If you have any queries on your application or these Ts&Cs, please contact your enrolment advisor.

If we have to contact you, we will do so by telephone or by writing to you at the email address you provided to us during your order.

3. Our Contract with you

3.1 When you email us to accept these Terms, a contract will come into existence between you and us.

3.2 If we are unable to accept your order, we will inform you of this in writing and will not charge you.

This might be because a credit reference we have obtained for you does not meet our minimum requirements, or because we have identified an error in the price or description of the microcredential.

3.3 For most products bought online you have a legal right to change your mind within 14 days and receive a refund. To find out more, please see the FutureLearn Refund Policy

4. Price and Payment

4.1 The price of the microcredential will be the price indicated on the course page of that microcredential (the “Fee”).

If you meet the applicable eligibility requirements, you will be able to pay the Fee over six monthly instalments.

4.2 Prior to enrolling you onto the microcredential, we will send you an invoice for the first and second months’ instalments of the Fee.

The first month’s instalment shall be due for immediate payment (“Initial Payment”) and the second month’s instalment shall be payable within 30 days of date of invoice.

4.3 Subsequent invoices shall be sent to you each month thereafter. Each subsequent invoice will be due for payment within 30 days of date of invoice.

4.4 Payment can be made by following a link within each invoice. Payment will be via Paypal or via a credit/ debit card registered with Paypal.

4.5 Once you have made the Initial Payment, a member of our customer service team will contact you to assist enrolling you onto the microcredential.

Once you have given the information to our customer service team required for enrolment, you will be sent a link by email, which will fully enrol you onto the microcredential.

4.6 If you do not make any payment to us by the due date we may charge interest to you on the overdue amount at the rate of 4% a year above the base lending rate of Royal Bank of Scotland from time to time.

This interest shall accrue on a daily basis from the due date until the date of actual payment of the overdue amount unless we choose to terminate this contract. You must pay us interest together with any overdue amount.

4.7 If you think an invoice is wrong please contact us promptly to let us know.

You will not have to pay any interest until the dispute is resolved. Once the dispute is resolved we will charge you interest on correctly invoiced sums from the original due date.

5. How we may use your personal information

5.1 We will only use your personal information as set out in our FutureLearn privacy policy.

6. Our Rights to end the Contract

6.1 We may end the contract at any time by writing to you if:

(a) you do not make any payment to us when it is due and you still do not make payment within 7 days of us reminding you that payment is due; or

(b) you do not provide us with information that is necessary for us to provide the microcredentials.

6.2 If we end the contract in the situations set out in paragraph 6.1(a), you will no longer be able to have access to the microcredential, and you will not receive any certificate or credit from this microcredential.

You will not receive a refund for any amounts paid prior to the termination of the contract.

We also reserve our right to suspend you at our absolute discretion from your FutureLearn account if you fail to make any of the payment instalments for the microcredential.

7. Other important terms

7.1 You may not transfer your rights or your obligations under these terms to another person.

7.2 Nobody else has any rights under this contract. This contract is between you and us. No other person shall have any rights to enforce any of its terms.

7.3 If a court finds part of this contract illegal, the rest will continue in force.

Each of the paragraphs of these terms operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful, the remaining paragraphs will remain in full force and effect.

7.4 Even if we delay in enforcing this contract, we can still enforce it later.

If we do not insist immediately that you do anything you are required to do under these terms, or if we delay in taking steps against you in respect of your breaking this contract, that will not mean that you do not have to do those things and it will not prevent us taking steps against you at a later date.

For example, if you miss a payment and we do not chase you but we continue to provide the products, we can still require you to make the payment at a later date.

7.5 Which laws apply to this contract and where you may bring legal proceedings.

These terms are governed by English law and you can bring legal proceedings in the English courts.
