Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) are one of the largest integrated Health and Social Care providers serving a population of 1.5m over a core geography of 2,400 square miles. The Trust’s portfolio of services includes mental health, learning disability and adult social care services across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Shropshire. MPFT also provide a vast range of community services for adults and children and specialised services such as rheumatology and rehabilitation.

About Research and Innovation at MPFT

MPFT are a highly active research Trust who work with world class academics, high quality leaders and teams. As well as delivering clinical trials, the Research department has four academic hubs who promote, deliver and encourage home grown research. Due to the extensive range of services the Trust provides and the nature of the local Integrated Care Systems, their research covers a wide portfolio and is undertaken in primary care, public health, community care and social care settings.

In 2020 the MPFT Research and Innovation department, in collaboration with Keele University and Professor Eleanor Bradley from the University of Worcester, launched the STARS programme (Supporting The Advancement of Research Skills’); an award winning expert-led online research and educational programme designed to increase research awareness and expertise in staff from all healthcare professions within the Trust. The programme proved successful with much interest from other organisations. With this in mind the Research and Innovation team are working to bring elements of the STARS programme to wider audience with the aim of supporting anyone who across the health and social sectors to gain research skills to inform and improve their practice.
