National Maritime Museum
The National Maritime Museum is the world’s largest museum relating to the sea, situated in the heart of Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site in London, UK. The museum showcases a world-class collection which tells of Britain’s epic narratives relating to maritime exploration and the world beyond.
Opening Autumn 2018, the museum’s new Exploration Wing reveals stories of exploration, cultural encounters and human endeavour from Britain’s maritime past and our lives today. Pacific Encounters is the largest of the new galleries, and charts Britain’s relationship with the Pacific from the 17th century onwards, exploring both the historical impact and the legacies of these encounters in the Pacific today.
