The Data Lab
The Data Lab is Scotland’s innovation centre for data and AI. It helps Scotland maximise value from data and lead the world to a data-powered future.
Through hubs in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness, The Data Lab fosters innovation through collaboration, builds skills and grows talent, and champions Scotland’s data science community. Over the next five years, they aim to generate over £590m in economic and social impact for Scotland.
Founded in 2014 as part of Scotland’s Innovation Centres programme, The Data Lab have facilitated over 100 collaborative innovation projects between industry and academia, generating over £128m in increased revenue and creating over 400 jobs. More than 500 students have completed postgraduate programmes supported by The Data Lab, providing the skilled talent Scotland needs to move data science forward.
The Data Lab believes Scotland can lead the world to a future where data powers scientific progress, economic prosperity and social good. So, they act as a catalyst, using their expertise, network, funding and platforms to change how Scotland, and the world, innovates with data.
