The National University of Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, or UNAM) was founded on September 21, 1551 with the original name of “La Real y Pontificia Universidad de Mexico”. UNAM is the biggest and the most important university in Mexico and in Ibero-America. The university’s mission is to serve the country and humanity by forming valuable professionals and developing research that extends the benefits of Mexican culture and as well investigating cultural conditions and local problems.
