About

Established in 1986, Whitireia Community Polytechnic Ltd is a wholly-owned Crown entity subsidiary company of Te Pūkenga, known for its high student success rates and culturally diverse student body. Every year we train over 4,900 students who study at one of our contemporary campuses across our Wellington region.

We offer a range of programmes of study at certificate, diploma, degree, postgraduate and Master’s levels.

Our programmes have been developed in conjunction with industry to offer excellent applied qualifications. Our NZQA Highly Confident rating for educational performance and capability in self-assessment makes Whitireia a Category 1 institution.

Whitireia is named after the Whitireia maunga (mountain) of Titahi Bay – the mountain that Ngāti Toa identifies with, the highest mountain in their rohe. Whitireia has been in a strategic partnership with WelTec since 2012. Both are part of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, together with all the other Polytechnics and Institute of Technologies in New Zealand.
