I am very confident that AI will not replace me but rather will make my work easier for me.

  • The test was not bad, it's unfortunate that I wasn't sure of some answers.

  • One of the things I have learnt in this course is that no matter how technology evolves, we humans will remain significant in industries, all we may need do is improve our skills to remain relevant.
Thank you for organising this course.

  • To find out how AI can help me improve my service delivery as an educator and try to acquire these skills.

  • Yes, my role as an educator is still very much needed because no matter the level of technological development, human support is still important in child education.

  • As an educator, my roles are that of empathy, relationship and support.

  • I believe AI is for good.

  • There's no need of fear of losing one's job to AI. Humans are still very much needed in the work place.

  • I've benefited from use of AI in the health and business sectors.

  • I agree that intelligent technology is helping doctors today to detect tumors in some women and thus these women have better chances of conception and delivery of their own babies after the tumors are taking care of. That's improvement in healthcare service.

  • AI will improve our work place experiences but it would not take over our jobs.

  • The test was good, only that I mistook machine learning to be the same as AI

  • Film suggestions by Netflix

  • I've seen on some websites, chatbots giving response to questions or enquiries or telling what next to do.

  • Translating speech to text and using facial recognition to unlock phones

  • Thanks for a nice introduction. I hope to gain some knowledge here.

  • My students are mostly teenagers in the age range 12 to 16. Because of the pandemic we switched to online learning but we had some challenges. Some of them include poor network, inadequate supply of electricity, most students used either their parent's phone or shared one with their siblings. My target will be Daisy, a mother of three children under the age of ten who are starting a new school year in September and would need key items such as bags, stationery, lunchboxes, footwears, stockings, drinks and snacks etc. Using these items as keywords, I'll draw her attention to Asda supermarket using SEO and banner advertisement. Also, using email...

  • I would like to know how to use email in marketing.

  • I prefer the organic search links

  • I'd like to learn how to make the best use of digital marketing.

  • Banner ad is better

  • PPC is preferable because it's directed to the target audience and yields more results than banner advert.

  • When designing a banner advert, insure it does not cover the main content that viewers are reading otherwise, they can feel offended and close / turn off the advert.

  • I want to know how to use banner advertisement.

  • analytics

  • @HadizaUmar Not yet. I'm somehow stucked at the point.

  • During this pandemic, Jumia advertises more of cleaning agents and disinfectants and also food stuff because that's what they can easily deliver to homes in different parts of the country due to ban on inter state travel but which allows vehicles conveying Foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals to travel.

  • Jumia online shop, Dettol, Hypo toilet cleaner, Harpic toilet cleaner etc are some companies that I know.

We use histogram to represent grouped frequency data such as the scores of students in a test that involves large number of students.

  • The MIT App inventor require a code but I don't see the code any where. Besides it's requesting for Wi-Fi connection, does that mean I can't access it with my data except with Wi-Fi?
    Please I need help.
Is there something else I need to install apart from the App inventor?

  • Please can someone help me, I don't really get it.
Can I use my Android phone because my laptop has no internet connection?

Thank you so much for this wonderful course.

  • I will encourage the use of inclusive language in the school and community as much as I can, and will employ the use of simple languages/ expressions in my lessons to ensure that every student is carried along.

  • I'd ask the students how they would want to be helped based on their individual experiences. Then I will adjust my lessons to accommodate the needs of the students.

  • The use of simple sentences and less ambiguous words will help all students understand what is required of them and follow through.

  • Fantastic idea.

  • Pie chart can be used to represent government's expenditure on the various sectors of the economy while data on annual enrollment of students in a college over a given period can be shown on a bar chart.

  • Representing data graphically and with an appropriate technique makes it very easy to understand and interpret the information contained.

  • I'm interested to know what type of data is appropriate for each graphical technique.

  • I feel very comfortable with the difference between variables and data, qualitative and quantitative variables.

  • Loving this course already.

  • Hi everyone, I'm a Nigerian, a graduate of Industrial Mathematics. I'm eager to learn how to use Excel in data analysis, I only know a little (very little) of Excel so I hope to learn more. My name is Oluchi.
    Happy learning to us.

  • I have problem understanding theoretical subjects full of letters and words and explanations but easily understood subjects involving figures, diagrams and even videos. I love practical lessons where I can explore and learn.

  • Nice video, nice talk. Disability doesn't make the physically challenged exceptional than he is.

  • An app makes understanding mathematical concept very easy and interesting too.

  • We really need to change our mindset and views towards the physically challenged persons.

  • It is always right to use positive languages when addressing a person or group of people no matter who they are, and most especially when these negative words depict the true nature of things, because words are powerful.

  • Most of the places I'm familiar with are not actually easily accessible to the physically challenged person, they can't climb the stairs and most of this building do not have lifts. Nevertheless, I have come across bridges and some buildings in Nigeria with flattened stair ways that makes it easy for the physically challenged to have access to the services...

  • I now understand that special schools, separate classrooms, or private tutoring for the disabled are not inclusive education but exclusion, segregation and integration. That integration is not inclusion.

  • Daniel's school adopted segregation. Though he was in the school, he was given a separate learning space and materials with no supervision.

  • This week, I've learnt of TPACK but I'm yet to discover how I can apply it in my classroom.

  • Mostly I get information from the internet and YouTube e.g https://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/lesson_plans/math/
Although there are some groups or platforms were teachers meet and share ideas such as The Community of Practice (A community of Educators, convened by Dr Timi Hyacinth on behalf of African Society for Advanced & General Education (Afrisage).

  • I would like to create an app that explains topics/contents in mathematics in a simplified way, with applied exercises and feedback.

  • Using technology will make teaching a lot more simplified and organized and students will understand mathematics more easily.

  • In Nigeria, ICT is taught from primary school up to at least 100 level in the tertiary institution. There's also Data Processing taken as an entrepreneur subject in the senior secondary school. Some private schools use interactive boards, projectors and other technology gadgets in their teaching and learning but these depend on the school's financial strength.

  • TPACK will be an interesting thing that will make my teaching easier and more interesting/interactive.

  • Yes, my country has rectified the CRPD (in 2010)

  • The video exposed my wrong perception of inclusion, though I dislike thinking for students, giving them answer.

  • In my school we use white board and marker but recently (because of the pandemic) we created Whatsapp platforms for the different levels and classes and teach them using text and image massages.

  • My name is Oluchi, a Mathematics teacher in Nigeria. I teach mostly secondary school students. In the schools I've worked with in the past 8 years, I only used desktop and laptops to type assessment questions and prepare students report. But for the covid 19 lock down, I now use Whatsapp to teach my students. I wish to learn better technology means.

  • Serving as a facilitator or as a guide to my students, sometimes when I introduce a new topic/sub-topic, I ask the students questions and allow them come up with answers based on their own observation and insight, by the time the lesson is over the students will discover that they were fully in charge of the lesson. Such lessons always stick longer.

  • This course has been highly informative and I enjoyed being part of it.

  • I am grateful to have learnt new things from this course.

  • My takeaways from this course are that digital learning does not replace teachers but makes teaching more simplified. Digital learning involves a team of professionals from different disciplines.

  • The level of social and emotional well-being during adolescence is a strong predictor of overall future health and well-being at adulthood.
We need to encourage adolescents to develop a growth mindset, high self esteem and positive interpersonal relationships. These will help them come out as strong and positive adults who lead better lives.

  • This course has been highly informative to me. I now understand why teenagers make some irrational decisions without thinking of the consequences. I also discovered that girls have more reasoning abilities due to their brain structure than boys. But that poses a question to me, in my interactions with my teenage students I observed that most of the boys seem...

  • The competencies outlined by Catalano et al actually align with other frameworks as well as Lisa's. Developing competence and confidence will go a long way to promote the well being of my students.

  • They have the same opinion on the importance of communication and interpersonal relationships. The teacher points out the need for self awareness, self esteem, being responsible etc on the part of the students.

  • I choose the National Guidelines. It's focus is on effective onlie learning, to bring out the best in the student.

  • I have been a teacher teaching in the traditional classroom system but with the covid -19 pandemic and lockdown, we have to engage our students online using Whatsapp to teach them. It's a bit interesting though but there's no much changes because I'm still wholly responsible for my class. I look forward to team work in online teaching.

  • Educators can serve as facilitators, guides and as role model to the students.

  • Some key skills Lisa touched on from CASEL list of skills are : social awareness, self - awareness, responsible decision making, self - management skills.

  • I will choose emotional literacy. When you build a high self esteem, other things follow.

  • I don't see any difference between the two. Confidence is a result of self esteem. Having positive self esteem yields good character and improves one's competence. Now with a positive character you care and easily connect with others which is relatedness.

  • Duolingo is a language app that I enjoy using. Another app I know, though I don't use it is Opay. It allows commuters to go anywhere within the city with little t-fare at hand.

  • There's need to design learning experiences centered around the students because it will make them feel relevant, have better learning experiences and thus learn more.

  • By empathising, you put yourself in someone's shoes by trying to understand the situation at hand and by finding the solution to the problem you win the person's heart. Empathy and quick failing leads to innovation.

  • Positive youth development has been seen in the form of youth volunteer service throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. From Mexico and the Caribbean to Central and South America, this form of implementation has been acknowledged for encouraging both personal and community development, while oftentimes contributing to poverty reduction. • Self-control and self-regulation : celebrate and build their strength and success; respect and listen to them; set them up for success; validate their emotions and concerns; promote the use of a safe calm-down place as a positive place not a place for punishment, reward flexibility and self-control, allow times and places for them to do what they want (when...

  • Emily feels that school and parents need to create an enabling ground for teens to interact with their peers and different groups in order to develop and demonstrate their social and emotional well-being.
Lanchlan feels the need for parents and teachers to give them attention (listening ear and spending more time with them).
Both agree on the need for...
