  • the numbers don't shock me, I believe a lot of the numbers are made up from lung related diseases such as asbestosis and silicosis, lead poisoning etc. (apologies if this is spelt incorrectly) also illnesses such as white finger etc. a lot of the main contractors and developers have measures in place to protect the workforce from these issues and many more so...

  • Has to be government led and supported in my opinion with leaders from the industry, stiff penalties for those that don't comply

  • The reduction of emissions, increased use of rail which is a key part of sustainability. Hopefully more rail can be installed / improved nationally with cheaper rates so affordable to all.

  • I have had mixed experiences but the bad ones are the ones I remember. The most recent one being, we decided as a team to change the cladding from a limited combustible to a non combustible material. this took place via a MA via the L/A planners of which was duly granted, this caused an approx. 4-8 week delay and increased costs of circa 550k including design...

This will engage and support change over a period of time.

However, more can be done and we need to keep climbing the curve to achieve our optimum. The challenge is a worldwide...

  • I couldn't download the action plan on the website when I clicked onto this, is any one else having this problem?

  • I believe UK construction is moving in the right direction (albeit slowly) but feel we are sometimes reluctant to diversify into new innovative products.

  • Hi Edward, I believe we can allready see and feel the difference over these past 6 weeks, remarkable as this demonstates the pollution we are putting into the atmosphere

  • @DanielPeters Hi, I believe it needs to be government led, in essence this is allready happennign and some big changes have allready taken place but as allways more can be done, additionally I see tier 1 & 2 contractors taking this very seriously but beloew this is a little hit and miss hence the lead needs to come from central government with support from...

  • In my humble opinion Sustainability in construction is to be environmentally responsible and be aware that the goal is to achieve and maximize the life cycle and effective maintenance of a building by protecting the planet and utilizing the effective use of natural resource where possible.
