  • Hi @CarmeloDiMaria it's wonderful to have you aboard. It will be really interesting to gain your feedback on the programme and how it might support you in your role. Welcome to step 2 :)

  • Hi @MariaDean thanks so much for signing up. It's wonderful to have you here & great that you are getting involved in developing MSK services :)

  • Hi @DanielBlagdon really glad you signed up. Looking forward to working with you to promote the programme.

  • @SadifNajmi it has been a really welcome change in the mainstream approach to mental health being discussed much more openly

  • @LivaK it is so important to listen to what someone wants. We can all be guilty of listening with only the intention of adding in a solution rather than understanding what someone wants. Again, it really feels like you have built on your knowledge from step 1 & step 3 will further enhance your knowledge, skills & confidence again.

  • I love the comment @RuthChauhan it really helps to have a what matters to you approach which you have built on from Step 1. Well done.

  • Hi @AnneMarieMatarrese that is really fab feedback. So pleased you have enjoyed the course & found it so useful. Comments like these are really helpful in encouraging others to get involved in the programme so thanks again

  • @AnneMarieMatarrese your willingness to be involved in strategic coproduction for maternity using your lived experience is incredible. We also have the peer leader network for graduates who can then get involved in coproduction not only within their own area, but the national & regional front. Hope to see you on step 3 & thanks again for sharing

  • @NinaDawson they are fab motivations for getting involved with peer leadership. Make sure you sign up for step 3 as I am sure you will be a welcome addition to our growing peer leaders

  • @AnneMarieMatarrese thank you for sharing your insight & comparisons across the globe & your observations on how we are evolving to become more inclusive

  • @NinaDawson it's wonderful to have you on the course & sharing your insight & lived experience of Perinatal Mental Health & BPD. Great to have you aboard

  • A great insight on 'what matters to you day' @RuthMcGuire

  • That's a great insight @TanyaHarberStuart

  • I think there is a genuine commitment from professionals within systems to really understand people's stories, but i think you're correct in thinking not everyone may be at the same stage of that journey which is why us continuing to share stories is so needed.

  • @CarolMunt there is a commitment within the NHS Long-term Plan, to train at least 75000 front line staff to deliver personalised care which is key in being able to shift the balance of power.

  • That's really insightful @GemmaCooke & so accurate

  • It's one of my fav stories on the whole programme @CarolineMontalvo

  • Love this @LyndsayAndrews

  • That's really great of you to share @CarolineMontalvo I experience mental health issues at a young age & I really do think it helped to shape my own views, compassion & empathy for others. A great reminder and reflection that whilst mental health takes a toll, there can be some positives to take away. Thanks again for sharing your insights.

  • @TanyaHarberStuart it really does make a difference the professionals understanding and workforce training around implementing personalised care principles.

  • Wonderful insights @AmyChidley & wonderful that you have been so actively engaged in coproduction within your trust.

  • Great observation @LucieO coproduction is so very different to engagement & this course helps people to understand the difference & confidently work with systems to develop coproduction. Do check out step 3 for peer leaders

  • It's great to have you on the course @EssttaHayes hopefully you will look to sign up to step 3 & look to become one of our peer leaders

  • Loving everyone's comments on the changing attitudes to disability within society & I echo each of your observations that there is still more to do which is why it is so great to see so many passionate learners embarking on the programme & leading the way for change. Well done guys1

  • Great to hear how Access to Work has supported you @EssttaHayes hopefully this resource will also help others to lead a more independent life at work. Thanks for sharing your experiences & insight.

  • Absolutely @CarolineMontalvo it really does make such a difference. It wasn't around when my son was younger (ASD) and he would really struggle, but I know many families who have benefited from this approach. Thankfully things are improving, but we still need to do so much more. Great reflections.

  • Hi @EssttaHayes wonderful to have you aboard the programme. Thank you for sharing those resources & your insights/reflections on historical treatment of people with learning disabilities. I've done some work in the past with older people who fell into this treatment & it is heart breaking to see the long term impact it has on people. As you say we have come...

  • That's very true @JosephineGriffin boundaries are key & managing expectations.

  • Thank you for sharing your experiences & the challenges of sharing your story in the past. Hopefully by working with professionals we can help to shape future services & systems so people don't have the same challenges. Do check out step 3 if you are interested in enhancing your skills in this area @JennyBlackwell

  • @JudeLawson I think that this can quite often be the case & the need for a consistent approach for a patient to ensure things don't go unnoticed. Thanks again for sharing.

  • @MikeBrooks there is that element of health & care being funded & "free" and that challenge when looking at services. Not sure it is a clear cut response, but there are lots of opportunities for health & social care to work closely together especially since the development of ICS's

  • @JackyMartel your experiences do help to reflect the need for a consistent approaches across our health and social care systems & teams. I can definitely relate to different outcomes from a service dependent on which one I am dealing with. The more knowledge we have the more we can advocate for ourselves & others and this programme definitely helps to build...

  • It's really heart warming & helps to bring to life why personalised care is so important. Really glad it resonates with you @AmyChidley

  • @LaceyFaulds @AmyChidley this is why I love the learner interaction section of this programme to help connect peoples stories. Thanks you both so much for sharing your personal experiences

  • Great to have you here @CarolineMontalvo we have a number of gradates from the programme with mental health issues who have benefited from the programme so I hope it will help you also.

  • Thank you for sharing these experiences @SarahRose communication is key between professionals to improve patient experience & reinforces the need for people with lived experience to feature in pathway development

  • Wow that is a great journey you have shared @SarahRose & showed the difference that direct payments and self directed support can play in a persons life.

  • Hi @JackyMartel there are lots of opportunities for lived experience for carers to get involved in coproduction so would be great to see you on step 3 of the programme for you to get involved.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your story & experiences @HannahB

  • That's great @GemmaCooke & something that will really help you on the programme. Don't forget to check out step 3 to help develop yours skills, knowledge & confidence in becoming a peer leader & getting involved in system design & social reform

  • That's great motivation @SarahRose we have lots of people from the voluntary sector on the programme so welcome.

  • Welcome aboard @HannahB it's a really important area & there are lots of opportunities to get involved in maternity pathways for graduates of step 3 of the programme so would be great to have you aboard.

  • Fab that you have found the course @GemmaSmith & it would be great to know how the programme helps your role & if there is an opportunity to link up with your peer supporters.

  • Absolutely @CarolMunt do you have personal experience of this approach?

  • Without a doubt @OrgenaMilligan that's exactly why this course is so important for people to access. Step 2 & 3 really build on the foundations you have picked up in Step 1 & is also free to access so do check it out :)

  • I can relate to this @GemmaCooke I have two boys on the spectrum, one who was diagnosed through peds and one through CAMHS & we struggled for years to gain access to services, get a diagnosis & pathways for support & I worked in the sector. The only way we can change this is by becoming upskilled & working with professionals to change the system for those who...

  • @GemmaCooke sounds like you have a vast amount of lived experience. Do check out step 2 & 3 whereby you gain the skills to become a peer leader & we have lots of opportunities for people to get involved in systems and policy on a national, regional & local level.

  • @CarolWakeham feel free to check out step 2, I think you will find it will enhance your skills, knowledge & confidence even further and step 3 works on building up your confidence to share your story

  • Absolutely @CarolWakeham the links with peer support & mental health & physical impacts are key.

  • That's wonderful feedback thank you @ElizabethwheelerAnn

  • @HelenSpence if you are looking at developing into step 3, there are still some places available & it would be great to have another Zebra aboard :)

  • @EmmaJaneLevallee Really pleased the course has been useful

  • Really pleased you enjoyed the resource & some really interesting observations @MikeBrooks

  • Hi @CarolWakeham we (lived experience team in NSHE/I) are working closely with mental health service providers across the country & we are always looking for new opportunities to work closely with system leads & providers to enhance coproduction

  • It certainly will @RebeccaZaidi

  • @MikeBrooks again great observations & absolutely correct in how we work with people with lived experience

  • You'll find lots of helpful tools within the programme both in this step & step 2 & 3 @ElizabethwheelerAnn

  • Great motivation @RebeccaZaidi

  • @MikeBrooks great observation.

  • I love that @CarolWakeham

  • @CarolWakeham thank you so much for joining us & sharing your personal experiences. Hope you find the course useful & it helps you in your studies.

  • Great to hear @ZakHughes!

  • Great to hear! I think you will find step 2 really useful also as we have had a number of people from the health & social care professions who have accessed both steps & found them very useful in their professional development. It is also free to access & is undertaken in the same method as step one

  • @GwenKeogh welcome aboard, we often get people in from other part of the UK so you are very welcome & I am sure the skills & knowledge you take away from the programme will be transferrable in your role.

  • Thanks for the feedback on the support from mentors @GwenKeogh

  • @ZakHughes you are very true & people are so much more than a diagnosis/condition. i think you would find step 2 really useful in enhancing your skills, knowledge & confidence you have already started to build within the programme so far. It is also free to access & can be done in the same way as step one. Would be great to have you aboard

  • @ElizabethGeary it's wonderful to have you aboard. We've had lots of social prescribing link workers undertake step one & two with rally positive feedback on their journey who have become ambassadors for the programme. Would to hear your views on the programme & if you feel it is beneficial to your post.

  • Thanks so much for sharing your story @JennyBlackwell really hope you are enjoying step 1 so far

  • So pleased you enjoyed the course @sharonColes, it's fab that the course has increased your skills, knowledge & confidence & brought you to a coproduction group. Would be great to see you on step 2 & if there is anything the lived experience team can do to support your group, just let us know england.pldp@nhs.net

  • Thanks for coming aboard @ZakHughes it would be great to get your insights on the course & if you feel it helps to improve your ability to share your story with others.

  • Fantastic news @EMMAH which area is this? Wonderful to have you aboard.

  • @TobiasLambe couldn't agree more - prevention & personalised care is key - invest to save - great observations.

  • @ZakHughes thanks so much for sharing your personal experiences & the challenges in ensuring a consistent approach across our health and social care economy

  • Without a doubt @elizabethlloyd-dehler there is an emerging need around post-COVID & how we shape our systems & services given this emerging need & why we must work with people impacted by post COVID

  • Great feedback @TobiasLambe

  • Really pleased that you had a positive outcome for your surgery @HelenSpence but I can relate to the challenges in gaining access to the right pathway & your feelings, however it really validates why we must work with people with lived experience as peer leaders to shape the right pathways build around the needs of those with the conditions. Hope you sign up...

  • That's great to hear that the course is increasing your knowledge - just wait until you get to step 2 @EmmaJaneLevallee

  • That's really unfortunate that both of you have had the same experience of a lack of choice. There is still alot of work to do & I don't always feel that a choice had been provided, but that's why I see this course as so vital as fore warned is fore armed - when you know you can ask @SarahO'Brien @HelenSpence

  • Absolutely @LisaRoper transition between children & adult service can often be a cliff edge, but hopefully starting to get better with the introduction of the SEND reform.

  • @Sarah-JaneNiles thank you for sharing your own personal experience in addition to your professional background. I also have a professional/personal background & feel it adds to my strengths working with a person.

  • Really hope the course has helped @GabrielMejia

  • @DanielleM such a good point, having a long term health condition, classified as an invisible disability, myself I have experienced the same feeling & agree being a well prepared & informed patient makes such a difference

  • That's a great personal motivation @KimMoore especially bringing it into your role.

  • Great to have you here @EmmaJaneLevallee & thanks for sharing

  • Love this reflection working with patients in a person centred approach adopted within your role with primary care @Sarah-JaneNiles thanks for sharing

  • Hi @Sarah-JaneNiles I know I already said hi on step 2, but I hadn't realised you were now working within primary care as a paramedic. Would be great to know how you feel the course has helped you in transitioning your role

  • @JohnDudley that is a great observation & a common issue for people on the spectrum. Thank you for sharing your experience.

  • It's a really valid observation & something that we are working on within systems to ensure that the introduction of personalised care does not increase health inequalities @TibbsPereira

  • @TibbsPereira I think you will find that step 3 covers support in sharing your story & the ongoing peer leadership network for graduates from the programme.

  • That is a great observation @TibbsPereira

  • Hi @Sarah-JaneNiles welcome to the programme it's great to have a wide range of health care professionals accessing the programme.

  • Love this @TibbsPereira you are so right about the level of integration we are now seeing
