The world of dreams has always fascinated me.
I'm looking forward to learning more about the various theories on why we sleep and dream, as well as the stages of sleep, especially the REM stage. -

Hi everyone! I am from Poland. I would like to find out what is the connection between the brain and being physically active. I do some sort of gentle workout or dance every day because I love being active and I've noticed that it has a wonderful effect on my overall well-being.
I think I also do it because it helps me deal with stress. In a way, I meditate... -

Yes, I think it has changed how I hear BR, I listen to it more 'consciously' now.

The "...what have you done..." part gave me some chills, but I don't know if it was the music or the chill in my room :)
Maybe the anticipation of the chills can actually stop them. -
Paulina Cygal made a comment
The video is actually quite funny.
I think the anticipation of "the drop" is filled with a mixture of emotions, at first it's a kind of positive, exciting anticipation, we feel, we know that IT is going to happen, so we wait, but the longer we wait, the more irritated we get, so we want to get rid of that 'uncomfortable' emotion, everything inside us starts... -
Paulina Cygal replied to Dina Ahmed
Totally agree. It was like telling a poignant story in a light, giggly tone.
Didn't like it. -
Paulina Cygal made a comment
I love the '...mama...' part, I love the sounds, the melody. It just resonates with me in a sense. The '...so you think...' part makes me feel totally different, I get a bit nervous, anxious....
BR is so diverse when it comes to musical styles, maybe that's why I can't just say if I like it or not, because my emotions are so different when I listen to it.... -

Thank you so much for week 1 :)
The most intriguing information to me is that our brain constantly compares and analyzes what is new and old. I have just started reading the book "Deviate" by Beau Lotto. It is about the brain and perception. Lotto is a neuroscientist who claims that our brain hates uncertainty and tries to make the uncertain certain. I wonder... -

I had a basic understanding of what music psychology was. Now my perspective is much deeper.
-
Paulina Cygal made a comment
Wow, that's really interesting! I have never thought about my reactions to music from that perspective.
-
Paulina Cygal made a comment
The claim that we only use 10% of our brain is a myth. It's an oversimplification and a misinterpretation of scientific data. The whole issue is much more complicated.

My first association with music psychology was that it tries to explain how music affects our mind, our emotions, and our overall well-being. I am very curious about what exactly goes on in our mind, what is triggered when we listen to music.
-
Paulina Cygal made a comment
I can't say BR is my favorite song, but I certainly think it's brilliant in a way.
It's something of a musical masterpiece. It's so dramatic, poignant, and even gives you chills at some points. There are different musical styles in it, which makes it even more intriguing.
It's not just an ordinary song, but rather a story full of mystery and ambiguity.... -
Paulina Cygal made a comment
Hi there!
I've chosen this course because I love music and I become very emotional when I listen to certain songs. I hope this course will help me understand how this happens. I am very curios about the relationship between music, mind and brain. -

I've chosen this course because we encounter problems everywhere, both in our personal and professional lives, so knowing how to confront and solve them is absolutely essential.

First of all Daniel will lose Jenny. That will be a severe loss and punishment.

I think it's easier to learn English when you read, watch or listen to something you're really interested in or even passionate about. I like psychology, so I often listen to different materials on topics that interest me. I like watching movies, often about psychology, and this way I gain a lot of knowledge and learn the language. It is fantastic!

I can't wait to find out :) -
Paulina Cygal made a comment
My opinion has not changed. The issue is much more complicated. It is not just a black or white situation.
-
Paulina Cygal made a comment
It's not that simple. It's not just about Daniel, because he's involved with Jenny, and she's the one in danger.
-
Paulina Cygal made a comment
Jimmy should definitely talk to Daniel. The final conversation.
-
Paulina Cygal made a comment
I get the impression that Daniel is not sincere in his words and actions. He has his motives, he plays his games, and he seems to treat people as tools to achieve his goals. He is not so obvious and consistent in his actions, maybe that is why he is the most complex character for me. My sympathy, however, remains with Jimmy.

At the beginning of the episode 3, a flashback scene showed Jimmy and Jenny talking. Jimmy promised her that he would come back home safely.
Then, in the present time, Jimmy meets his friend EJ and asks her for help with the investigation.
At the same time, Daniel shows up at Jimmy’s apartment. Susie, Jimmy’s neighbour, lets him in. Later, Jimmy returns... -

Paulina Cygal made a comment
Jimmy seems to be haunted by the past. There's something dark about him. He is so sad, so depressed, but I'm intrigued by him. Daniel's life seems to be more under control. His space has brighter colors, not as bleak as Jimmy's. He may have some problems or unresolved issues from his past, but he somehow manages to deal with them. I think I trust Jimmy but...

It surprised me that the purpose of sleep still remains a mystery and that there are so many sleep disorders. I'd like to know more about all the stages of sleep cycle. Why do infants spend roughly 50% of their time asleep in REM and adults only 20%?
