Chioma, these are wonderful approaches that could soothe the burden of parents of children with disability. However, I think these approaches could be redesigned in circlic but interactive form as follows:
    1. SEARCH: to identify families living with disabled children
    2. VISIT: to have better understanding of the family through affective dialogues

I'm sorry to say that I've deleted my Facebook, but I'll engage like mind educators on Twitter on Nigeria policy on inclusive education. Best regards.

  • Indeed according to Looks Matoto policy is both a reference point and guide on how to implement thinks. However, in my view policy is also a license for innovative education to practice.

  • Unfortunately I couldn't find anything significant about inclusive education, but a section on special education which in fact is another branch of exclusion. Kindly help your self with the link explaining Nigeria's Policy on Education attached.

  • What makes presentation effective among other things include using clear images or graphs; concise tables, and the ability to face the audience confidently.

  • I can't figure out when it's proper to teach without aim or purpose.

  • In my opinion, all are equally important. Building rapport without proper attitude towards teaching, or paying attention to the needs of the pupils will amount to nothing.

  • I think the second version is play.

  • Hi everyone, I use Microsoft Flesch-Kincaid reability formula to judge the difficulty of the text. Microsoft realibility formula calculates and display the number of words per text, number of sentences, number of words per sentence, percentage of reading ease of the text and grade level. The formula also calculates the number of passive construction in the...

  • Good morning everyone, in the past 24 hours I've read followed and liked many comments from the participants of this course, I read many tweets and online newspapers on Twitter. The purpose was to be informed about what's going on around me. It was quite surprising now thinking on different types of digital texts type I read.

  • Hi everyone, in my opinion reading and listening are not passive because, particularly reading. Reading involves a lot of physical and cognitive activities such as eye movements, decoding and understanding the message of the text. More so, these activities are learned in the classroom and that's why we've able and disable readers even in the learning...

  • I thank you very much for the offer.

  • Assalamu alaikum, my name is Umaru Garba an English language teacher from Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, Nigeria. I joined to improve my skills as a teacher.

  • Hi, my name is Umaru Garba, a postgraduate student with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.
I m happy to connect with you in this course.

  • Thank you Borbála Kálmos and Gabriella Dóczi Vámos with your inspiring techniques.

  • This video presents very important techniques for teaching the structure of languages to learners, not only a second language.

  • Thank you Anne, I am grateful.

  • Thank you very much for the concern.

  • Yes, I am referring to such situation where children are held back by poor instruction. I ask this question because in my pilot study to test the reliability of my screening test, more than 50% of the pupils were identified as dyslexic. What is the answer to such a situation? And what does dysteachia refers to in teaching and learning? Thanks.

  • Hi Borbála, I mean specific video clips prepared for dyslexic pupils probably in mp4 format. By interactive, I mean something that the pupils can tick and get an instant response whether wrong or right. Thank you for your concern.

  • Looking forward to more educative learning techniques and methods for assisting dyslexia pupils to learn second language.

  • Umaru Garba made a comment

Thank you for all the efforts. I however need to be cleared of one issue - how does one differentiate the issue of poor instructions and dyslexia?

  • My question is how can I or which apps do I use to prepare interactive reading comprehension questions to accompany the digital storytelling clip for pupils to respond to, possibly after each view.

  • I use TTK apps for young learners and TEDTalks for adults.

  • The issue with dyslexic pupils is the interest and the motivation to carry on with their language related tasks particularly reading. I believe IT has a mojor role to play in stirring and maintaining their interest, thus I set out to explore the impact of digital storytelling on Interest, Reading Fluency and Comprehension among primary five pupils struggling...

  • Please, I need to know the font type and point size that hinder and discourage dyslexic pupils from reading their handouts if any.

  • Hi all, I am Umaru Garba from Nigeria. I have FB, Tweeter, G+, and LinkedIn accounts, but I am more active with the last three than the former. The reason, in my opinion is, in my country, the use of FB as social media was wrongly perceived and abused.

  • Hi, my name is Umaru Garba from Nigeria. In my opinion, social media are simply our social tools. They work for or against us depending on how we use them.

  • Thank you Bimali for your interest.

  • I have learnt a lot and count myself lucky to participate in this MOOC. The two videos I watched by Prof. Judit and Prof. Kate are...

  • Hi Arnet, I felt highly encouraging. Kindly let me have your contacts for collaboration. Thank you most sincerely.

  • That is learning for you, Taylor.

  • I doubt very much if Nigeria educational system and policy care to know, diagnose or cater for thousands of pupils scaling to post-primary schools unable to read. Colin 's "Kids need structure" has definitely widen my horizen as to devastating impact of pupils leaving schools unable to read. I do hope, with this course, I'll be an instrument of change towards...

  • Ani, I felt the same. I felt challenged. I totally agree with you, that dyslexic pupils are hard working.

  • I felt seriously challenged, just like giving up.

  • Before viewing this clip my perception and understanding of dyslexia is just difficulty about language learning difficulties particularly spelling, reading and memorisation. I never thought it has anything to do with social skills, organisations or time management.

  • In the course of my review of literature concerning struggling readers, I come to understand that dyslexia to some certain extent can be cured. I aslo learnt that, parents, culture and the learning environment contibute immersly to certain form of dyslexia. I wish to thank Pamela from whom I just learnt another form of language related disorder called...
