  • I will use variety of methods in doing my PhD research, from systsmatic review, document analysis, interview to delphi study

  • Very important chapter. It's vague difference between research design, meghod and meghodology and how which of them contribut to doing research

  • I use Endnote and I think itvis a user-friendly software

  • I chose my thesis title or in other words, my research question by my educational and professional background. In fact, I'm studying on developing a value-based healthcare model tailored to Iran

  • From the very begining of first days of my PhD journey, main concern of my research was " impact" of my work on society. I believe that a good research proposal must impact one side of a society or a group of people in a positive direction

  • I have a goal in my mind and hope to attain that by conducting my PhD research

  • Hi, I am a PhD student in health care manahpgement

  • @FrancesV Exactly! I couldn't agree more

  • Ehsan Moallem made a comment

Some indirect taxes such as value-added tax is fairly inequitable, since that has a negative impact on consumption of essential goods and services and this exacerbates the health status of people especially the poor.

  • Since the deprived and poor have few assets at their disposal and as a result of health expenditures they ought to sell these assets. In fact they may sell for example their house to receive a tertiary care at the hospital and this is where inequity occurs.

  • In my country Iran, public and formal sectors workers can benefit from social health insurance while others utilize national health scheme that funded by annual budget or taxation. Several other insurance schemes exists for special groups such as military servants and ...
Multiple prepayment schemes compromise social equity and solidarity and at the same time...

  • Hi. The situation in health system of my country, Iran is similar to Nigeria, where public health facilities that are dominantly utilized by poor and middle income households, lack in quality and paying for private health facilities incurs financial hardships on patients.

  • I think so Ricardo. Besides delaying of getting the right services at the right time from the right provider, failing of health system to address health care financing issues surely results in societal inequity and it threatens cohesion and solidarity of the society.

  • In my opinion, health care financing is the most important factor to achieving universal health coverage, and where the most health systems especially in developing countries suffer from.

  • useful. I learnt a lot

  • A useful guide. thanks!

  • I have an M.Sc in health economics and my goal is to continue my studies. I have been dreaming for studying the "health policy, planning and financing" at the LSHTM for several years :) . I surely realize this dream!

  • @AinurBulasheva Hi. I'm Ehsan from Iran and very enthusiastic and passionate about pursuiting of my field (Health economics,Health care policy and management) to better suits future needs of health system especially my own country. But in this way, the financial aspect of living and studying in UK is my biggest concern and (by passing this course and like...

  • some diseases should be controlled rather than eradicated. Actually, eradication is a optimistic viewpoint for diseases such as HIV.

  • And about his job and kind of work he does

  • I think Ihave been making much progress in this course .I'm highly motivated

  • As Iran does

  • I think financial barriers encompass many factors not merely direct out-of-pocket costs when receiving a service. At this time that Covid is threatening our people's lives in Iran, screening, testing and treatment of susceptible cases costs little at public health facilities ( approximately, 10% of the bill for treatment and no cost for screening and testing),...

  • I completed 100% and I feel happy :)

  • Exactly! At the begining of speaking the English, you may be so embarrased to make some mistakes; but as you practise more and more, you may be more confident to speak and it's fascinating enough to communicate with someone else!

  • Yes, in fact, there is the informal expressions and words in any language that are difficult to be understood by a non-native speaker, but that's a good idea to practice slangs and so on by watching movies and listening musics ;)

  • As you truly mentioned, besides demographic information; it's necessary to collect and categorize health status and history of patients.

  • @SarahSalami thanks for your response

  • I suffer from allergy, especially during spring and summer.I don't know an effective treatment or drug to relieve that, unfortunately.

  • Nowadays, registration forms have become electronic ones and inevitably an electronic patient record play a vital role to follow-up and better diagnose and treatment of patients.

  • I would choose neurology, because I'm interested to study on dementia and diseases like this.I think this group of illnesses are rising gradually

  • What is the morgue Sarah?

  • LDR, ICU &CCU,lab, operating rooms, dialysis,...

  • @MuhammadSalehMusa good point. There is a big difference between equity and equality.

  • Ehsan Moallem made a comment

In my country, Iran there is a tendency to concentrate more on treatment rather than PHC and preventive care.Maybe it arises from conflict of interests of whom in power. So, preventive care is neglected and under-resoureced and hospital care and treatment facilities are in core attention of policymakers.

  • I believe that health problems need adopting a systematic approach, e.g we can overcome Covid 19 only when all partners cooperate with eachother. It's only and only solution to this crisis.

  • I visit hospitals regularly because of my position at Medical university and my duty is address hospital financing supervision and quality improvement affairs. But, fortunately I visited hospital as a patient ... in fact,I can't remember :)

  • I can guess the role of these persons

  • Thanks for guiding

  • Exactly. In fact, it's very important to understand a patient's needs to address effectively to those needs and and a good communication is the prerequisite.

  • exactly. That's a good suggestion Asal!

  • I belive that strenghtening a health care system by strategies mentioned above (for example improving hospital efficiency that's my interest)is an inter-related issue that require involvement of all parts of a community not merely the health system

  • As you truly mentioned, the covid is a global challenge and we should solve this challenge with a global solution. It's clear that overcoming this virus demand a global desire and no one left.health system in my country,Iran need to strenghten to respond effectively to local and global issues.

  • @OllieWood We live in the technology era and from an economic viewpoint, technology and especially online education tools and platforms decreases costs considerably.By the oylutbreak of infectious diseases like covid-19,it's a must to adapt innovative and flexible methods

  • @MaryamTootoonchinia I 've been teaching English to teenagers and found it very challenging! I'm trying to improve my extent that I could teach at college. But, as an online teacher you have tbe opportunity to interact with different groups of learners and this is great, I think.

  • A question:Are there other tools to measure health outcome of an intervention?in application do PROMs result in valid evidences?the quality and effectiveness perceived by patient,to some extent, reflect real fuctioning of the process of curement?

  • On the basis of evidences and also WHO's definition of health, good or bad health don't have exact implications and they all depend on sb's viewpoint,so measuring health outcomes are very complex

  • It is a good fortune to participate in the course and share comments with such an experienced health economists
