  • I have a good life, I have a lovely family. But the life itself gives you many proofs, and at this moment I’m passing difficult times related to my son’s health.

  • Hello, I’m Michele from Mexico. A pleasure to join you in this path through learning about “Quality of life and Happiness”.

  • I have taught as in lower as in upper primary, and definitely I have seen how they change through the years. I totally agree with these principles, as they grow they are more conscious of their learning, at young ages, they take everything as a game or fun.

  • I think young learners can learn in an easier way than adults, the main reason is that young learners are more confident, they do it in a natural way.

  • I’m an English Teacher in a private primary school in Mexico. I would like to improve my skills for teaching.

  • Mitzi S. T. made a comment

I have been teaching English language for 12 years, I started as pre-school teacher, and now I’m teaching in upper primary. Children in Mexico start learning English since they are 3 years old, but that only happens for private schools. On the other hand, in public schools, they start since primary, when they are six years old.

  • Hi, everyone, I’m from Mexico and I’m a primary school English teacher. I want to take this course to improve my teaching.

  • 1. Statement
    2. Happiness
    3. Incomplete Statement
    4. Sadness
    5. Doubt
    6. Question

  • I think he had some Grammatical errors in his first attempt, although he used complex sentences he didn´t connect the phrases very well. On the contrary, in the second attempt he improved all of these errors.

  • This is really interesting, I would like you give us some feedback. I know that would be impossible to all of us, but with some comments you do would be enough. Thank you.

  • As a matter of fact, it´s easier to understand when you include signposts.

  • In the second attempt, he improved coherence ordering his ideas in a better way. In the last question he was more accurate to answer only what he was asked. Also he changed some words to give a better sense to the phrase: he included the word alter instead of change, making the sentence more appropiate.

  • I think that the most useful tip is the one about creating your own prompts, in this way you are sure to complete the two minutes.

  • The good news is that you can use that plan at the moment of speaking.

  • Definitely, the second attempt was much better, but in the two of them, he hesitates when he gives his opinion. So, the fluency and coherence could be in band 5, where it says: usually mantains flow of speech, but uses slow speech to keep going, and the crutch word: mmh. Talking about pronunciation, I think that I could understand clearly all his ideas.

  • I think that it could be difficult to talk about a topic that you don´t know for two minutes, but if the topic is familiar to you, could be less challenging.

  • Be calm, and don´t hesitate.

  • Mitzi S. T. made a comment

Phrasal verb: The thief broke into the house and stole my mother´s jewellery.
Idiomatic Expression: Yesterday I introduced my boyfriend to my dad, and he let the cat out of the bag, I was so embarrassed.

  • According to the band, she misses including idiomatic vocabulary. Talking about pronunciation, I think she is in band 6: "can generally be understood throughout, though misspronunciation of individual words or sounds reduces clarity at times". Specially talking about stressing words. Of course, in the second attempt, she improved all of this.

  • These are the things you don’t learn when you are studying. I’m so glad for having this course.

  • In the second attempt she improved the use of collocations or lexical resources: using finances instead of economy for example. Or elderly instead of old people; look after instead of take. And some more.

  • Always do your best
    Make a great effort

  • I think that the main thing she improved was the fluency. In the improved attempt she did it without hesitation or pauses, and also improved the way to say her ideas.

  • I think it could be between 6 or 7, sometimes I hesitate about how some words are pronounced.

  • I think my main problem could be the use of vocabulary, even I have learned several words, at the moment of being interviewed my mind forgets them.

  • Hi, everyone, I’m from Mexico, and I would like to improve my Speaking skills, and take IELTS some day in the future.

  • Hi, I´m from Mexico too, and my biggest challenge was that I didn´t know how, as you said, there are people who are ready for all kind of technology, for me was a little bit difficult. The good thing is that there are lots of videos on YouTube.

  • The biggest challenge was to learn how to do it, because this was something that I wasn´t prepared for. The only way to overcome it, was facing it, learning how, practicing with friends who were in the same situation.

  • I like to start the class asking them How they feel, What they did the day before; But, I always face the same thing, or feeling: Like the language would be a barrier, they don´t have all the words to tell me about them, and in that case they prefer to have a short conversation. I would like this could be different, but I´m sure that allowing them speak...

  • I try to match the topic of the class to real life, in that case we communicate easily.

  • I saw quite interesting the platform of Webroom, but I need to practice with it. Definitely, I am more familiarized with Zoom.

  • I think the main reason I became an online Teacher is due to the pandemic, it was something that I wasn´t prepared to. I have never been an online teacher before. I was an online student, but it is so different. I have faced many issues, specially, how to motivate my students to do their activities, and how to give them feedback in the best way.

  • Hi, everyone: I’m from Mexico, I have been teaching English since 2007, I started as English teacher in preschool, nowadays I’m in Elementary School with six graders. As everybody, my main motivation taking this course is what we are living at this moment. All of us had to start learning something in which we didn’t have any experience or previous knowledge.

  • I consider these changes:
    1. In Mexico, there´s much more to do to give education to all the sectors in the country, but there has been an advance.
    2. Technology, and
    3. The inclusion of Teaching English as a foreign language.

  • Squares: EA Prince video who says that school can not be the same as it was 50 years ago (or more).
Triangles: That schools are hands tied under a system that has not changed.
Circling: How can we change our way of teaching if we don´t have enough elements.

  • Learning, creativity, vision.

  • Definitely; I would include teaching of Values, by doing activities who help students interact one each other in different situations. And also to teach them finance since early ages, because they don´t know anything about money administration.

  • I agree, but the problem is that schools have a system, not only schools, but also governments, and we, as teachers, can not promote that changing. In my case, I would like not to have books as a "support" in order to introduce different activities. Sometimes I feel that I´m just filling books, the thing is that they´re so expensive that imagine what would...

  • SCHOOLING: It´s given in a specific place.
The person acquires knowledge related to a specific topic.
The acquisition of knowledge has to be graded.
EDUCATION: It´s given in any place, could be the house, on the street, etc.
There isn´t a limit of topics or elements to learn, you are...

  • One day I was having a conversation with a child´s father at the school, and I still remember his words: Education is given at home, with values, and a correct way to live; Here, at school, you instruct our kids, with knowledge of Science, Mathematics, etc.

  • Mitzi S. T. made a comment

I agree with Einstein´s comments, but I love Mandela´s words. Those words make me feel that with teaching I´m giving one part of myself for making a better world.

  • I like Einstein´s definition, in some ways, we don´t remember all the information we get at school, but we are learning to learn.

  • I choose A, I think that education is knowledge. I can see that there are many E´s, and I haven´t done the connection between the plant and education, so I can see that others see education as a way to grow or flourish. It´s a different point of view that I couldn´t visualize on that way.

  • I remember that I did it by my own, it´s difficult to remember my parents being involved, most of the time, they were doing something else. I remember that all that I learned was from my school teachers, I loved learning, well I still love it.

  • I think that each point of view is valuable, and if we say it is because is happening. Education should be the motor of each country.

  • Mitzi S. T. made a comment

What if we use creativity in our classes instead of filling in books?
What if all the teachers around the world take courses to be up to date?
What if parents could trust in our capability of teaching?

  • Definitely, teacher training and better salaries to promote this itself.

  • I think that everything is related to the previous step: Emotional Intelligence, how we, as teachers, should give importance to it, and include it as a part of our curriculum.

  • I agree with everybody, his teacher should have a talk to him, to figure out what´s going on, certainly there is an issue that is affecting his behaviour.

  • Mitzi S. T. made a comment

I think that all the listed issues are certainly part of the problems education is going through, in my opinion it must include the society rol in it: now, who is in charge of the kids? all the technology that surrounds them, they don´t have direction, the lack of values.

  • Hello Leonella, I agree with you, nowadays everything around is related to gadgets and all those technological items, (as my grandparents would say).

  • Hello, I´m Mich, I´m an English Teacher in a Private Elementary School. I´m taking this course because I would like to have more options for teaching, I think that having the knowledge of anything related to my profession, enhances it and gives me more tools to be better.

  • Hello, I am Michele from Mexico. I´m an English teacher in an elementary school. I´ve been teaching since 2007, I started teaching in Preschool, and I´m taking this course because I´m always learning, I like to include new strategies in my classes, and in this case, I would like to improve and move to another level.

  • Hello Guillermo; I was impressed with your comments because I´m just like you, I´m also Bussiness Administrator and English Teacher, but I don´t work as Bussiness Administrator anymore, I´m English Teacher in a primary school, and I´m also Mexican. Nice to meet you.

  • Hello everyone, I´m bussiness administrator, but almost 10 years ago I decided to give a switch to my career, and I started as an English Teacher in preschool, then I moved to Primary, the last year I just finished a Master Degree in Education, but now I´m not sure to continue, the situation has turned difficult in the school I´m now, and not only that, also...

It's clear that he was provoking her. Unfortunately she let him to cross the line. I think that she should give him a pen and stop his behavior.

  • Letter 2: At first I think that it`s kind of difficult to change how the students see you, because they measure you since the beginning of the course, and they notice what they can do and what they can't. Anyway you are the adult, so I recommend you to talk to them in private to know why they are behaving like that, and maybe have an agreement for the rest of...

  • Don't worry, I don't think that you are the only one in a difficult situation. That's why we are here, because we want to have tools for helping us in our job.

  • Hello, my name is Michele, I´m a teacher from Mexico, I just finished a Master degree in Education, I think this course could help me a lot improving my knowledge about rubrics and all those things that are important for us as teachers and for our students to get a feedback about their job.

  • I'm not sure about not to press the child to talk, I had an experience with my nephew, my sister didn't press him at all, he used to ask for things only with mimic, when he grew he had some difficulties with some sounds and even some self confidence problems, as he couldn't pronounce some words he didn't want to participate at school. And I think it was...

  • I disagree with number 2 and 3, definitely a child learns more if he/she is playing at the moment they are learning, they barely notice they are learning.

  • I think they learn by being involved in the language.

  • I think they learn by associating words with images and by listening to sounds in English, also by being involved in the language.

  • I'm English teacher of primary school learners.
