    This course is teaching me so much! I suppose the biggest relevation is that it WAS NOT the English who were responsible for the destruction of the clan system, it was almost self imposed. Fascinating.

    Ballads and poetry

    The poem creates an atmosphere, a peek into the past. No account can ever be truly accurate that far back, no cameras, recorders....and eye-witness accounts become fudged over the years, memories fade and accuracy dies. I believe poetry inspires and captures the imagination, that's all.

    It occurs to me that your team has been particularly sensitive to the issues raised by the analysis of the skeletons of the Scottish soldiers. One question I would ask however, is: Has DNA been taken from every skeleton uncovered and could this be used in the future to trace forwards to living people?
