  • no problem - Apple are very over-protective as a default and it can be quite restrictive if you don't change the settings. You may need to unlock the panel first (click the lock at the bottom of the window and then enter your password).

    Hope it works!

  • It could possibly be the pdf extension in Firefox causing problems. If you right click the extension and choose 'save link as' (in Chrome, but similar for most browsers) then you can save to your desktop, open in Adobe Reader (or your normal pdf software) and print via there.

Sometimes built-in pdf extensions in browsers get confused and show blank screens...

  • @ Ellie - if it's an old XP laptop it's most likely 32 Bit, but this link will help you identify which you are running: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/find-out-32-or-64-bit

  • Hi Saidat - looks fine at my end, linking to the correct sections.

  • Is it because you haven't checked the settings in System Preferences/Security & Privacy? There is an option in there on Mac OS X to allow apps to be installed on the Mac that are downloaded from anywhere (such as this). As a default it is set to only allow apps downloaded from the App store only.

I assume that's why you can't install it after downloading.

  • It's not Flash, the interactive elements on this course are all HTML5. They should work well in Chrome on all devices, in Firefox on all devices and in Safari on Mac and iOS.

  • The microscope, moon trumps and ordering Saturn's moons are all HTML5, not flash. To operate them you will needed a compatible browser - e.g. chrome, safari or Firefox on desktop, chrome on android tablets/phones, chrome or safari on ipad and iPhone.

The video player is different according to what platform you are using I believe.

  • Hi Susan, did you try paying in portrait orientation? May help you.

  • Hi Tom

No, this is HTML5 - if you upgrade to latest iOS and use Safari or Chrome it should be fine.

  • Hi Carolyn, try Chrome, should work fine ;-)

  • Chrome is actually the preferred browser. What operating system are you running Robert?

  • Hi Steven. It should work, what browser are you using and which generation of iPad?

  • Hi Sue

Try Google's Chrome browser, that should help

  • Hi John

Which browser are you using? Chrome is our preferred option as it has the best support for our HTML5 features.

    Thanks
    Andrew

  • Hi Barry

As far as I know, Snow Leopard on Mac is only officially compatible with Safari 5. Safari 6 was released for Lion and upwards, so that may be why you are experiencing problems.

Are you able to upgrade to the latest OS X? That would likely fix your issues. We can't support Safari 5 fully due to its age and incompatibility with many HTML5...

  • Hi Anne

Please see my reply to Katharine, below, regarding the functionality of the tool that isn't possible using still images.

    Thanks
    Andrew

  • Linda, seeing your previous post, I'm wondering if you need to update to the most recent version of iOS for your iPad - that may resolve the issue your having.

    Thanks
    Andrew

  • Hi Katharine

Unfortunately, we can't offer the same resolution of photo on the platform as we can in this tool and also one of the key things here is to allow the user to switch polarisation whichever zoom level they are at, without disrupting the positioning of the image. Also, it wouldn't be possible to add rulers to still images, as they'd move off...

  • Hi Linda

Can you tell me what specifically the problem is? Does it load? Do you get an error, or white screen?

We tested extensively on iPads of all generations and had no issues, so any feedback would be great.

    Thanks
    Andrew

  • Hi all

If it helps, you can browse through the cards before playing the game to get a feel for the various values. On the menu, it's the last option.

  • Hi - thanks for this, we've amended!

  • Hi Katharine

The browser will need to support HTML5, so old versions of Internet Explorer won't work. Chrome, Safari or Firefox should be fine for desktop though. :-)

  • Hi James - it isn't the OU that restricts downloads, it is the platform that doesn't yet offer the functionality, although I'm assured it is coming. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you all for pointing out the error - the caption should indeed have read Titan, not Triton.

    This has now been corrected.

  • Hi Jill. There are both transcripts and closed captions for all videos. Hope you enjoy the course!
